Giannini Hall
historic place
Giannini Hall, located on the University of California, Berkeley campus in Alameda County, was built in 1930. It was formally dedicated on October 21, 1930. The building is named for Amadeo Peter Giannini, who founded the Bank of Italy, which later became Bank of America. Giannini funded the hall's construction and established the Giannini Foundation of Agricultural Economics in 1928. The hall was designed by William Charles Hays, a faculty member. Its architectural style incorporates Neo-classical and Art Deco influences. Giannini Hall houses the College of Natural Resources and general classrooms. It also contains one of the university's oldest agriculture research libraries. Giannini Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 25, 1982. This designation recognizes its historical significance on the Berkeley campus.
