Grace Episcopal Church, Boulder Creek

historic place

In Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz County, you'll find Grace Episcopal Church. This historic structure was built in 1906. It features a late Gothic Revival style and was constructed from old-growth redwood. Grace Episcopal Church is recognized as the oldest church building in Boulder Creek. The town itself was incorporated in 1902. The year 1906, when the church was built, was significant for the local lumber industry. After the 1906 earthquake, redwood from the San Lorenzo Valley was used to rebuild San Francisco. The building no longer serves as a religious property. In 1995, the Boulder Creek Historical Society purchased it. It now houses the San Lorenzo Valley Museum, which opened in December 1999. Grace Episcopal Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. This site continues to preserve the history of the San Lorenzo Valley.
