La Belle Tour: A Hollywood Landmark
historic place
In Hollywood, Los Angeles County, stands a historic place originally known as La Belle Tour. Erected in 1929, architects Cramer and Wise designed this building in a French Renaissance Chateauesque style. La Belle Tour provided sophisticated urban accommodations, becoming a popular residence for entertainment industry employees during Hollywood's 'Golden Age.' A historical marker notes it offered 'Sophisticated living for film luminaries during the 'Golden Age' of Hollywood.' The building's name changed to Hollywood Tower in the mid-20th century. In 1988, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This site reflects Hollywood's early film industry era.
