Executive Office Building, Old Warner Brothers Studio

historic place

Located in Los Angeles County, the Executive Office Building of the Old Warner Brothers Studio holds significant film history. The original studio facilities at this Sunset Boulevard address were built in 1919. Warner Brothers acquired these facilities in the early 1920s, and this specific Executive Office Building was constructed in 1923. From 1923 until 1937, it served as the executive hub for Warner Brothers Studio before their move to Burbank. This Classical Revival style building is renowned as the production site of "The Jazz Singer" in 1927, a pioneering talking motion picture that revolutionized the film industry. The building was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1977. In 2002, it was certified as a Historic Structure by the United States Department of the Interior and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the site is known as Sunset Bronson Studios. This building remains a tangible link to the early days of Hollywood and the advent of sound in cinema.
