historic place
The Frederick Hastings Rindge House is a historic place in Los Angeles, California. This residence was built in 1902. Architect Frederick Louis Roehrig designed it in the Chateauesque style. The City of Los Angeles declared it Historic-Cultural Monument Number 95 in 1972. In 1986, the United States Department of the Interior placed it on the National Register of Historic Places. This house served as the final home for Frederick Hastings Rindge. He was a significant business magnate and real estate developer, known for founding Malibu, California. The Rindge family moved into this house in 1903, following a fire that destroyed their Malibu home. Frederick Hastings Rindge died in 1905, two years after moving here. His wife, Rhoda May Knight Rindge, lived in the house for 36 more years. The Frederick Hastings Rindge House is historically important for its architecture and its association with a notable figure in Los Angeles's growth.
