Freeman, Samuel, House

historic place

The Samuel Freeman House, located in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, California, is a historic place. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, this house was completed in 1925. It is one of four concrete textile block residences Wright designed in the Los Angeles area. Its unique architectural style comes from approximately 12,000 cast concrete blocks, some featuring pre-Columbian motifs. For over six decades, the Samuel Freeman House hosted an avant-garde artistic and political salon. In 1986, the Freemans donated the property to the University of Southern California's School of Architecture. The house is recognized as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, a California Historical Landmark, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserving its architectural and cultural significance.
