General Petroleum Building

historic place

The General Petroleum Building in Los Angeles, California, was completed in 1949. Designed by Wurdeman and Becket, this Modern-style structure was the largest and first major office building constructed downtown after World War II. It featured aluminum fin sunshades. Designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, it was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The building was later converted into the Pegasus Apartments. It is significant for its architectural design and impact on Los Angeles's post-war development.
