Highland Park Police Station
historic place
The Highland Park Police Station, located on York Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, was constructed between 1925 and 1926. It officially opened in April 1926. This building, designed in the Renaissance Revival style, is the oldest police station still standing in the city. The station served the community until 1983, when it closed due to seismic safety concerns. In January 1984, the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission designated it a Historic Cultural Monument. Two months later, in March 1984, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is the only precinct police station in California listed on that register. Today, the building houses the Los Angeles Police Museum, which opened in 2001. This site is historically significant for its architecture and its long role in providing police services to the Highland Park area.
