Hollywood Melrose Hotel

historic place

The Hollywood Melrose Hotel, located in Los Angeles County, is a historic place. Designed by architect S. Charles Lee, the building was constructed in 1927. Lee was a prolific architect, known for designing many motion picture theaters during Hollywood's early years. Throughout its history, the structure served both as a hotel and apartments, often featuring commercial establishments on its ground floor. In 1992, the Hollywood Melrose Hotel was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This recognition was based on its distinctive Norman Revival architectural style. After an 18-month renovation, the building reopened in April 2010 under its current name, the Hollywood Historic Hotel. This restoration aimed to reflect its original 1920s character. The site continues to connect to Hollywood's architectural and cultural past.
