Holmes--Shannon House

historic place

The Holmes-Shannon House in Los Angeles, California, is a Historic Place built in 1911. Architects Train & Williams designed this residence in the American Craftsman-Bungalow style, with Tudor influences. Nellie Holmes Shannon, a successful real estate owner, and Michael Shannon, Los Angeles's first traffic officer, commissioned the house. The City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission designated it a Historic-Cultural Monument in 2007. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2008 for its well-preserved architecture. A historical marker for the house was erected in 2007 by the City of Los Angeles and the National Park Service. The Holmes-Shannon House reflects the early 20th-century architectural character of the Victoria Park neighborhood.
