Judson Studios
historic place
Judson Studios, a historic place in Los Angeles, California, was founded in 1897. English-born artist William Lees Judson and his three sons established the stained glass studio in downtown Los Angeles. In 1920, the studio relocated to its current Highland Park site. The building, constructed in 1911 by architects Train & Williams, first housed the University of Southern California's College of Fine Arts. In August 1969, the City of Los Angeles designated Judson Studios a Historic-Cultural Monument, number 62. A marker was erected that year, recognizing its vital contribution to Los Angeles' artistic development through stained glass. The studio was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 25, 1999. As America's oldest family-run stained glass studio, Judson Studios holds a continuous and significant artistic legacy in Los Angeles.
