The Miller and Herriott House
historic place
The Miller and Herriott House is a historic place located in the North University Park area of Los Angeles, California. This Victorian dwelling was built in 1890. It showcases a combination of Stick and Eastlake architectural styles. The house was part of the Harper Tract, a development by Miller and Herriott, who purchased 25 acres in 1888. They subdivided this land into 98 lots for "substantial and tasty residences" built for speculative purposes. The Miller and Herriott House is the oldest surviving structure from this original development. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The city of Los Angeles designated it a Historic-Cultural Monument in 1981. Today, it stands as a notable example of late 19th-century speculative residential architecture in Los Angeles.
