The Textile Center Building
historic place
The Textile Center Building, located in Los Angeles County, stands as a historic place. Construction on this twelve-story building began in March 1925 and was completed in January 1926. It officially opened in April 1926. Designed by architect William Douglas Lee, the building features a blend of Gothic Revival and Italian Renaissance Revival architectural styles. Florence C. Casler, a pioneering woman real estate developer, developed the building through her firm, Lloyd & Casler, Inc. The Textile Center Building originally served as a central hub for garment manufacturing, housing numerous clothing businesses. In 2005, it was converted into loft-style condominiums. The city of Los Angeles designated it a Historic Cultural Monument in April 2002. It was then listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 15, 2005. The Textile Center Building is historically significant for its association with Florence Casler and for its industrial architecture.
