Twentieth Street Historic District

historic place

The Twentieth Street Historic District is located in Central Los Angeles, within the West Adams neighborhood. This district comprises ten homes, primarily in the Bungalow and Craftsman architectural styles. These residences were constructed between 1900 and 1908. Businessman W. Wayman Watts, in partnership with George Steckel, developed these homes. The district is notable for its exceptionally intact and homogeneous design character. It includes examples like the Rogers-Lott House, a rare Prairie-style bungalow, and several Chalet Style Craftsman houses. On July 22, 1991, the Twentieth Street Historic District was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Its historical significance lies in preserving one of the finest and most complete groupings of Late Shingle and Craftsman Style homes in the West Adams area of Los Angeles.
