Forbes Mill Annex, Los Gatos

historic place

In Los Gatos, Santa Clara County, you'll find the Forbes Mill Annex. This historic two-story stone building was erected in 1880. It served as the storage annex for the original Forbes Mill, a flour mill constructed by James Alexander Forbes in 1854. The original mill building was later removed between 1915 and 1929. The town itself grew around this important milling operation, first known as Forbes Mill, then Forbestown, before officially becoming Los Gatos. The Forbes Mill Annex is recognized as a California Historical Landmark, designated in 1950, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Today, it stands as the oldest remaining commercial structure in Los Gatos and houses a history museum, offering a direct link to the town's early industrial past.
