Galleano Winery: A Riverside County Landmark

historic place

The Galleano Winery is a historic place in Mira Loma, Riverside County. In 1927, Domenico Galleano, a winegrower from Italy, purchased the Cantu Ranch. Following the repeal of Prohibition, Galleano officially founded the winery in 1933. Galleano Winery is the oldest winemaking operation in Riverside County. It remains the last bonded, Prohibition-era winery still owned and operated by its founding family at its original location in the Cucamonga Valley. The Cantu-Galleano Ranch complex is listed on the California and National Register of Historic Places. A historical marker, erected in 1993, commemorates the winery's significance. It highlights the winery's role in the Cucamonga Viticultural Area, once a major grape-growing region. The Galleano Winery represents an important era in the region's agricultural and commercial history.
