Trinity Church, Oakland, California
historic place
Trinity Church, located in Oakland, California's Alameda County, is a historic place. The main church building was constructed in 1893, designed by San Francisco architect William H. Hamilton. It exemplifies the late 19th-century vernacular Gothic Revival style, specifically Victorian Carpenter Gothic. Trinity Church is recognized as the second oldest Episcopal church in continuous use in Oakland. It was designated an Oakland Landmark in December 1979. The church was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. In 1975, Trinity Church merged with St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, and the combined congregation adopted the name St. Augustine's. This site remains an important reminder of Oakland's architectural and religious history.
