The Wilson House, Palo Alto
historic place
The Wilson House is a historic place in Palo Alto, California, located in Santa Clara County. This Colonial Revival style house was built in 1906. It was originally constructed for Mr. and Mrs. Elbert E. Peck. Dr. Carl and Clara Wilson purchased the residence within a year, and their family occupied it until 1975. The house was designed by architect Frank Delos Wolfe. The Wilson House is notable for its generous scale, balanced design, and outstanding details. Its features include a broad, overscaled porch with extended eaves, creating a marked horizontal emphasis. A particularly fine detail is an unusual rounded bay with elaborate stained-glass windows. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 2, 1980. The Wilson House represents a significant example of architectural excellence from its era in Palo Alto.
