California Governor's Mansion
historic place
The California Governor's Mansion in Sacramento is a historic place. This mansard-styled Victorian house was built in 1877 for Albert Gallatin. In 1903, the State of California purchased the house to serve as the official governor's residence. Governor George Pardee and his family were the first to live here, moving in during November 1903. The mansion was home to 13 governors over 64 years, including Earl Warren and Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was the last governor to reside here, vacating in 1967. Since then, it has been managed as the Governor's Mansion State Historic Park. A historical marker, detailing its use as the official residence, was erected in 1968.
