The Julius Wetzlar House, a historic place in Sacramento, California, was constructed in 1871. This building is designed in the Italianate architectural style. Julius Wetzlar, a German immigrant, was one of Sacramento's founders. Wetzlar was also associated with Sam Brannan in the C.C. Smith and Co. store before the Gold Rush. Over the decades, the house had other notable owners, including Stephen Boutwell, Judge Samuel Denson, and Amos P. Catlin. Catlin was an early state legislator who played a role in making Sacramento the permanent state capital. The Julius Wetzlar House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 31, 1983. It remains a significant example of Italianate Victorian architecture in Sacramento.
