Mary Haley Galarneaux House

historic place

Here in Sacramento, California, you'll find the Mary Haley Galarneaux House, located at 922-924 T Street. This structure is an example of Italianate Victorian architecture, built around 1890. In 1915, the house was moved from its original location to a compatible neighborhood, joining other older residential buildings. The property saw several owners after Mary Haley Galarneaux. By 1977, a local architectural survey listed the house in poor condition. By 1997, it was dilapidated and faced condemnation. When the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 12, 2001, the surrounding neighborhood's Victorian houses and Arts and Crafts bungalows had been restored. This site is significant as an excellent representation of Sacramento's late 19th-century residential architecture and its later preservation.
