Eagles Hall, San Diego
historic place
Eagles Hall, located at 733 Eighth Avenue in San Diego, California, is a Classical Revival-style building. It was designed and built in 1917. From its completion, it served as the headquarters for the San Diego Eagles Aerie. The Eagles were a fraternal organization known for their significant philanthropic contributions to the community. In 1934, the hall underwent a major expansion. This project was a public works effort, employing members of the Eagles lodge. The expanded structure became the largest fraternal building in San Diego at that time. The Eagles Aerie occupied the hall until 1951. The following year, in 1952, the Rohr Aircraft Corporation purchased the building. Eagles Hall was designated a San Diego City Landmark on July 25, 1984. It was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. This site is historically significant as a prominent former center for a major fraternal organization and for its architectural evolution in San Diego.
