Jacob Weinberger U.S. Courthouse
historic place
This is the Jacob Weinberger U.S. Courthouse in San Diego, California. Completed in 1913, its construction occurred between 1911 and 1913. It was originally the U.S. Post Office and Customs House. The courthouse was built to showcase San Diego's importance, tied to the Panama Canal. It opened for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, housing the U.S. District Court and other federal services. In 1975, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Renamed the Jacob Weinberger U.S. Courthouse in 1988, a 1994 renovation restored its historic lobby and main courtroom. This courthouse reflects San Diego's early 20th-century development and federal presence.
