Building at 1840--1842 Eddy Street

historic place

The building at 1840-1842 Eddy Street in San Francisco, California, is a historic place. Constructed around 1875, it is known as the Martin O'Dea House, named for its original owner, a farrier. This Stick/Eastlake style structure was originally at 751 Turk Street. In 1974, it was moved to Eddy Street, preserved from San Francisco Redevelopment Agency projects in the Western Addition. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, it was among the first San Francisco properties to receive this designation. Its significance lies in its architecture and its role in the city's urban development.
