Building at 45-57 Beideman Place

historic place

The building at 45-57 Beideman Place in San Francisco is a designated Historic Place. This two-story, wood-frame structure was originally built in 1875. It displays an early Italianate architectural style, characterized by its planar design and horizontal solidity. The building was not always at this location. In 1974, it was moved here from 848 Octavia Street. This relocation was a preservation effort during the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency's clearance of the Western Addition neighborhood. The building at 45-57 Beideman Place was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. This made it one of the first properties in San Francisco to receive this national recognition. Its history reflects the city's efforts to preserve architectural heritage during significant urban change.
