Building at 465 Tenth St.

historic place

The building at 465 Tenth Street in San Francisco, California, stands as a historic place in the South of Market district. Constructed in 1924 by the O'Brien Brothers, this structure was originally a stage scenery factory. It served as a storehouse for scenery backdrops and was designed for creating large theater and movie sets and props. The building exhibits a Classical Revival architectural style. Its 60-foot-high tower features a classical theatrical relief. In 1998, the industrial space was converted into 18 luxury residences, now known as Stagehouse Lofts. This conversion included a seismic and infrastructure refit. Today, the building at 465 Tenth Street is recognized as a San Francisco Historic Landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It represents a significant period in the city's theatrical history.
