Delane House, San Francisco

historic place

Delane House, a historic place in San Francisco, California, was erected in 1884. Located at 70 Buena Vista Terrace, this residence is recognized for its Italianate architectural style. The design combines Classical and Classical Revival detailing with the rectangular, three-story bay tier of the Stick Style. Notably, it features intricately wrought cast iron Corinthian capitals surmounting wooden columns and pilasters. This use of cast iron in a residential building is considered unusual. Delane House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands as one of the earliest homes constructed in San Francisco's old Park Hill and Flint Tracts. The house offers a glimpse into the city's rich architectural heritage from the late 19th century.
