Ohlandt Newlyweds House
historic place
The Ohlandt Newlyweds House, a historic place, stands at 1260 Potrero Avenue in San Francisco's Mission District. This Stick/Eastlake cottage was erected in 1888. Nicholas and Matilda Ohlandt commissioned it as a wedding gift for their daughter, Emma, who married William T. Jungbluth that year. Wolfe & Son, Architects, designed the house, built by F. Mitchell & Company. It is a distinctive example of the Stick/Eastlake style and the only 19th-century structure remaining on its block. The interior retains original faux burled walnut paneling and three marble mantelpieces. This house offers insight into San Francisco's late 19th-century residential architecture.
