San Jose Central Fire Station
historic place
The San Jose Central Fire Station, located in Santa Clara County, was built in 1951. Designed in the International-style by the architectural firm Binder & Curtis, this building served as the city's main fire station. From its opening, it housed a new communication system, functioning as the command center for emergency services across San Jose until the year 2000. The station's establishment coincided with a period of significant growth for San Jose, marking its transformation from an agricultural community. In recognition of its historical importance, the San Jose Central Fire Station was designated a city landmark in 2012. It was also placed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 2015. Today, this historic place continues to serve the community by housing the San Jose Fire Museum, preserving the city's firefighting history.
