Milbank, Isaac, House
historic place
The Isaac Milbank House, located in Santa Monica, California, is a designated historic place in Los Angeles County. This Craftsman-style home was constructed in 1911. It was commissioned by Isaac Milbank, a nationally known industrialist, who co-founded the Borden Milk Company and invested in the oil industry. The Milwaukee Building Company designed and built the house. Originally, the Milbank House served as a vacation residence, reflecting a trend among wealthy Los Angeles families to build coastal retreats in the early 20th century. It was one of the first summer homes erected along Adelaide Drive. The property is noted for its remarkable preservation, with many original details still intact. The Isaac Milbank House became a Santa Monica City Landmark on March 11, 2002. It stands as an exemplary representation of Craftsman architecture and highlights Santa Monica's early development as a resort community.
