Bixby--Bryant Ranch House

historic place

The Bixby-Bryant Ranch House is a historic place in Yorba Linda, Orange County. Susanna Bixby Bryant built this house around 1911. Her father, John Bixby, purchased the extensive Rancho Santa Ana land in 1875. Susanna inherited the ranch in 1891 and transformed its operations from cattle to citrus cultivation. She also founded the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens on this property in 1926, dedicating them to her father. After her death in 1946, the house was neglected for decades. The City of Yorba Linda later undertook its restoration, completing the work in 1997. Today, the Bixby-Bryant Ranch House serves as the Yorba Linda Historical Society and Heritage Museum. This significant site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It represents a key period of agricultural development and botanical study in Yorba Linda.
