Sunrise High Sierra Camp

historic place

Sunrise High Sierra Camp, located in Mariposa County, California, is a historic place within Yosemite National Park. This camp was established on July 15, 1961. It holds significance as the last of Yosemite's High Sierra Camps to be founded. Its establishment completed the 50-mile High Sierra Camp Loop, which provides rustic lodging for those exploring the backcountry. The concept for Sunrise High Sierra Camp originated with Mary Curry Tresidder, who also supported its development financially. The camp is situated at an elevation of 9,400 feet and offers accommodations in canvas tent cabins. Today, it continues to serve as a key part of the park's high-country experience.
