Pattington Apartments
historic place
The Pattington Apartments, a historic place in Chicago's Cook County, Illinois, was designed by architect David E. Postle. Construction of the main building occurred between 1902 and 1904. An additional building was completed in 1906 by architect Andrew Sandegren. At its 1902 completion, the Pattington was Chicago's largest apartment complex. It was also the first open-court, luxury suburban apartment building constructed north of the Loop. The architecture reflects classical antiquity and Renaissance styles. The Pattington Apartments were added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 8, 1980. This complex illustrates the development of luxury apartment living in early 20th-century Chicago.
