9th Avenue Station (Dual System BRT)
historic place
The 9th Avenue Station, a historic place in Brooklyn's Kings County, opened on June 24, 1916. It was part of the BMT West End Line and a key component of New York City's Dual Contracts project, initiated in 1913. This station features a two-level, open-cut design. The upper level continues to serve the BMT West End Line. Its lower level, once used by the BMT Culver Line, closed to passenger service on May 11, 1975. The 9th Avenue Station was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 3, 2005. It marks a significant era of transit expansion in Brooklyn.
