Bay Parkway Station (Dual System BRT)

historic place

The Bay Parkway Station in Brooklyn, New York, an elevated structure, opened on July 29, 1916. It is part of the BMT West End Line, which was developed under the Dual Contracts of 1913. These contracts were a significant expansion of the city's subway system, replacing an earlier surface railway with elevated tracks and involving the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company. The station was built using concrete over steel. It was formerly known as Bay Parkway–22nd Avenue. Recognizing its unique design and historical importance to the city's transit network, the Bay Parkway Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 6, 2005. This station continues to serve the D train, marking a key period in Brooklyn's transportation history.
