Bushwick Avenue Central Methodist Episcopal Church

historic place

The Bushwick Avenue Central Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic place in Brooklyn, Kings County. An initial frame church was erected here in 1887. The current Romanesque Revival style brick and terra cotta building, attributed to architect George W. Kramer, was largely completed by 1912. This included its prominent octagonal tower, part of a significant addition. Now known as Bushwick United Methodist Church, it remains active, providing a soup kitchen since 1995 and a weekly food pantry. This site demonstrates architectural evolution and continuous community engagement in Bushwick.
