Saitta House

historic place

The Saitta House, a historic place in Brooklyn's Dyker Heights, is located at 1135 84th Street in Kings County, New York. This two-and-a-half-story Queen Anne style dwelling was completed around 1899. Architect John J. Petit designed the house, and P. J. la Note served as the builder for Beatrice and Simone Saitta. The Saitta House is recognized as a remarkably intact, high-style example of Queen Anne residential architecture. It retains many of its original architectural and structural components, both inside and out. The house is also significant for its association with the planning and development of Dyker Heights, a suburban community that emerged at the turn of the 20th century. The Saitta House was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 30, 2007. This site offers a direct connection to Brooklyn's late 19th-century architectural styles and suburban expansion.
