Apthorp Apartments

The Apthorp Apartments, a historic place in New York, New York, was built on the Upper West Side between 1905 and 1908. William Waldorf Astor commissioned this twelve-story building, naming it after the Apthorp Farm that once occupied the site. Architects Clinton & Russell designed the Apthorp in the Italian Renaissance Revival style. Its limestone facade features grand arches leading to a large internal courtyard. The building was completed in August 1908. The Apthorp was designated a New York City landmark in 1969. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This structure is a significant example of early 20th-century residential architecture in New York City.
