Charles P. Ledbetter House

historic place

The Charles P. Ledbetter House is located at 3904 Avenue C in Austin, Travis County, Texas. This historic place was constructed around 1911 to 1912. Charles P. Ledbetter, a builder and partner in the contracting firm Ledbetter-Mundt, was active in Austin's building trades during the early 20th century. He built this house, though he apparently never lived in it. The first occupant was C.D. Traweek, a fellow carpenter, who purchased the property from Ledbetter on April 1, 1912. The house is a local example of the hipped roof bungalow architectural style. It remains a well-preserved example of an early 20th-century house type in the Hyde Park area. The Charles P. Ledbetter House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 16, 1990. Its historical importance lies in its architectural significance and its representation of the speculative development within Hyde Park.
