Davis-Sibley House
historical marker
The Davis-Sibley House is located in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Austin architect Hal Thomson designed this Spanish Eclectic style home, completed in 1931. It was built for Emma Levison Davis, the widow of pioneer Austin grocer Nelson Davis. Emma Davis was also a founding member of the Settlement Club. The house features a stucco exterior, a cross gable floor plan, and a clay tile roof. Its design incorporates handmade tile, heavy timber, and ironwork by Fortunat Weigl. After Emma Davis's death in 1954, her son Theodore inherited the home. D.J. and Jane Sibley purchased the property in 1962. In 2009, the Texas Historical Commission erected a historical marker here. The Davis-Sibley House is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, recognized for its architectural style and its association with these Austin families.
