The Disabled American Veterans of Texas Monument is a historic place located in Austin, Travis County, Texas. It stands within the northeast section of the Texas State Capitol grounds, accessible from the intersection of Congress Avenue and East 11th Street. Erected in 1980, the monument was established by the Department of Texas and the Beloved Members of the Department's Auxiliary. This outdoor memorial commemorates Texan veterans who were disabled while serving in the United States military services. The monument's base is crafted from Texas Sunset Red Granite and features inscriptions along with the bronze seal of the Disabled American Veterans. The inscriptions honor those who "Offered Their Lives for the Nation." The Disabled American Veterans organization, whose Texas department was formed in 1923, works to advance the interests of disabled veterans from all wars. This monument serves as a permanent recognition of their sacrifices.
