historical marker
The Elvira T. Manor Davis House, located in Austin, Travis County, Texas, is recognized with a historical marker erected in 1994 by the Texas Historical Commission. Elvira T. Manor Davis, born in 1841, was raised in east Travis County, near the area now known as Manor, Texas. She married Blackstone H. Davis, whose family owned a quarry that provided stone for the 1853 Texas Capitol. As a widow with six children, Elvira T. Manor Davis purchased this lot in 1896. The house was built by 1904. Its architectural design, featuring porch columns, a balustrade, and bay windows, represents a transition from Victorian-era to classical revival styles. Elvira T. Manor Davis lived in this house until her death in 1918. This site is historically significant for its connection to Elvira T. Manor Davis and its illustration of early 20th-century residential architecture in Austin.
