George A. Peterson House
historic place
The George A. Peterson House is a historic place in Austin, Travis County, Texas. This late Victorian, T-plan home was constructed around 1904 for George A. Peterson. He was a partner with C.O. Lindahl in a grocery and feed business on East 6th Street. The house features a clip-cornered, elaborate front bay. This is a noteworthy variation of the T-plan, which is unusual for East Austin. All windows are one-over-one, double-hung sash. The front porch includes spindled balusters, elaborate brackets, and a spindled canopy. The Peterson home is a fine example of a once-prolific architectural style in East Austin. It displays craftsmanship with distinctive details. A historical marker for this site was erected in 2015 by the Texas Historical Commission. The George A. Peterson House is significant as a well-preserved example of Victorian T-plan architecture in Austin.
