Jobe, Phillip W., House
historic place
The Jobe, Phillip W., House is a historic place in Austin, Travis County, Texas. This vernacular Texas house was originally built for Bernard Lindemann, a naturalized German citizen who worked as a master mechanic for the Southern Pacific Railway. Phillip W. Jobe, a retired farmer, was recorded as a resident at this location by 1898. The house is a notable example of a turn-of-the-century structure. It features a prominent pyramidal roof, a distinctive wrap-around porch, and elements of the Queen Anne style. The Lindemann family maintained ownership of the house for over 70 years, eventually selling it in the early 1950s. The Jobe, Phillip W., House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. This property holds local significance for its architectural style, representing the period between 1900 and 1924 in Austin's history.
