The Mauthe-Myrick Mansion is located in Austin, Travis County, Texas. German stonemason Rafael Mauthe built this house in 1877. He purchased the land in 1856 from architect Abner Cook. After Mauthe's death in 1879, his wife Mary lived here until 1898. That year, the mansion was sold to Anne Katherine Brown Myrick. She was the daughter of Texas Supreme Court Justice T.J. Brown. Between 1903 and 1904, Anne Myrick added an ornate porch, featuring Greek Revival and Classical styles. A fire in 1978 significantly damaged the interior. The Texas Savings and Loan League purchased the property in 1979 and completed its restoration by 1980. The restoration aimed to return the mansion to its early 1900s appearance. In 1981, the Texas Historical Commission erected a historical marker, recognizing it as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. This mansion provides insight into Austin's residential architecture and its prominent families from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
