Ramsey, F. T. and Belle, House
historic place
The F. T. and Belle Ramsey House is a historic place in Austin, Travis County, Texas. This two-story frame dwelling, located at 4412 Avenue B, was constructed in 1894. F. T. Ramsey and his wife, Belle Sinclair Ramsey, are believed to have built the house after F. T. Ramsey acquired the property in February of that year. F. T. Ramsey was a significant figure in Texas horticulture, recognized as one of the state's most prominent nurserymen. He owned and managed the A.M. Ramsey & Son nursery, which had relocated to Austin in 1894. The house stands as the primary remaining link to the extensive Ramsey Nursery grounds, which defined the character of the area north of 45th Street during the early 20th century. The F. T. and Belle Ramsey House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 16, 1990. Its architectural significance and connection to F. T. Ramsey, a prominent Texas horticulturist, highlight its historical importance.
