Suburban Alcoholic Foundation Clubhouse
historic place
The Suburban Alcoholic Foundation Clubhouse in Austin, Texas, is a historic place in Travis County. The current building was erected in 1966 as a permanent home for Alcoholics Anonymous members. The Suburban Alcoholic Foundation was incorporated in 1955 to provide a dedicated space for AA meetings in Austin. This 1966 clubhouse replaced an earlier location, necessitated by the expansion of Mopac Boulevard. Architect Fred W. Day designed the one-story, mid-century modern structure. The clubhouse has continuously served its original purpose since its completion. It was approved for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places in October 2022. This site is historically significant for its enduring role in supporting the Austin recovery community.
