The Thompson Home, in Austin, Travis County, Texas, is recognized by a historical marker erected in 1978 by the Texas Historical Commission. Painting contractor John W. Thompson and Jennie L. Metz built this Victorian residence in 1877. Located in the fashionable Robertson Hill development, the home was occupied by their daughter, Willie Mae, until her death in 1966. In 1967, the Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority acquired and restored the house as a meeting place. It became Austin's first Black Greek letter house. The Thompson Home reflects early Austin residential development and the history of Black Greek letter organizations.
