Williams-Weigl House
historical marker
The Williams-Weigl House, located in Austin, Travis County, Texas, received a historical marker in 2002 from the Texas Historical Commission. This home, built around 1911, is significant for its association with two important Austin families. Harvey Murdock Williams, a bookkeeper at Ramsey Nursery, and his wife, Euphemia Sinclair Williams, built the house. Their son, Harvey Sinclair Williams, an educator and baseball coach, owned it in the early 1940s. In 1947, F. Lee Weigl moved his family into the residence. Weigl, a craftsman like his father Fortunat, was known for ornate ironwork, some of which details the home. The house itself is a bungalow with a symmetrical plan, a three-bay porch, and a central door flanked by sidelights. The marker recognizes the property's historical connection to these two families in Austin.
