The Zeta Tau Alpha House, located at 2711 Nueces Street in Austin, Travis County, Texas, is a recognized Historic Place. The Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was chartered at the University of Texas in 1906. The chapter purchased this Nueces Street lot in 1927. Austin architectural firm Page Southerland designed the house. Construction of the two-story Neoclassical-style brick house occurred in 1939, built by Ernest Parker. Additions were made in 1965 and 1975. From 1965 to 1966, Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, resided here. Her Secret Service detail maintained a command post inside. In 2011, the Texas Historical Commission erected a historical marker, designating it a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. This site is significant for its architecture and its role in women's history.
